A new year always brings lots of excitement and new possibilities at our wonderful school, Elkanah House. We are constantly looking at our academic offering and how best to improve and enhance it for the benefit of our most important precious assets – our children!
2016 brings a new initiative. At the prep campuses, we will be focusing on helping our children with their social and emotional skills through our Live, Love, Learn and Grow theme. Each week the children will concentrate on one aspect of this topic.
Children who have a good self-image and strong social skills, often are the ones who are the academic leaders in the classroom as well. They go on to enjoy bright and happy futures.
In the first term we will be learning about manners and friendship. Our weekly campus newsletter will provide further details. Parents can play their part by reinforcing the focus for the week at home by identifying the desired behaviour in their child, praising them for this and being good, consistent role-models at home. These skills need to be taught and practised in order for a desired behaviour to be reached.
We are hoping that our young charges will go out and be young gentlemen and ladies to be proud of.
To quote Mother Theresa: ‘’I alone can’t change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples’’. May our boys and girls be excellent examples to all!
